 Mark George SHEPPARD September 12, 1950
~ March 26, 2008 A passionate drama teacher, director and arts
education advocate, Mark succumbed to cancer last Wednesday at his
Vashon Island home, one day after leading his last class at Lakeside
School. Mark's teaching career began at Orting High School in 1973.
After earning an MFA in Directing from UW, he joined the faculties
of The Northwest School and Lakeside, where he taught for 22 and 25
years, respectively. Mark acted and directed throughout the region,
was past Chairman of the Wash. Alliance for Arts Education, and
served on the board of Vashon Allied Arts. A sweet soul and
mischievous wit, he will be missed by many, including his loving
partner of 28 years, Fred Albert; parents George and Sally Sheppard;
sisters Karen Sheppard and Christina Artman; brother Michael
Sheppard; nephew Marty Martin; niece Kristi Martin; and dog Molly. A
Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at
Lakeside School, lakesideschool.org. Remembrances may be made to
