General Information

A student's application consists of several pieces of information which serve to give us the best overall view of the student. School records, teacher evaluations, student essay, parent comments, testing, an interview, and a personal reference are all required pieces of this process. No single piece of a student's application folder carries any more weight than another. Each tells us something important about the student that we cannot get from another source. Our aim is to get the most complete picture possible and the best sense of how the student would contribute to the Lakeside community.

Campus Visit and Interview
All applicants are required to have an interview as a part of their application. Middle School applicants are assigned to participate in specific school visit days once we receive their applications. Upper School candidates should call the Admissions and Financial Aid Office to set up a visit after they submit their application form. They may visit the school for a full day of classes including an interview, or make an appointment for a tour and interview only. All applicant visits and interviews will be scheduled between October 2007 and mid-February 2008 and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate parent classroom visits, but tours can be arranged by appointment.

5th-10th Grade Testing
The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is required for all students applying for grades 5-10. Students who wish to be considered for the decision date (March 20, 2008 - Middle School and Upper School applicants) should take the ISEE by January 27, 2008. Applicant may register online for the test at www.iseetest.org by following the online registration instruction included in this packet. If you would prefer to register by mail, please call our office for a registration booklet. Families may also call the ISEE office directly at 1-800-446-0320 and register by phone for an additional fee. Please note that the deadline for test registration is three weeks prior to the test date. The fee for the test administration is $78. If this fee presents a barrier to your application, please call our Associate Director of Financial Aid Office at 206-440-2773 to request an ISEE fee waiver.

Financial Aid

Families wishing to apply for financial aid must indicate this on their admissions application to receive the appropriate forms. Parents should send the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid by February 7, 2008. For further details about the financial aid and the process of applying, please refer to the financial aid page.

Application Checklist
For your convenience we have created a checklist page to help you keep track of the application process and due dates. Application folders will be considered complete when everything on the checklist is completed.

Late Applications
Students who are unable to meet the requirements of the application checklist by the deadline will be considered late applicants. Decisions for late applicants are made on a rolling basis. Because spaces are limited and the applicant pool is competitive, it is to the candidate's advantage to complete the application as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee that late spaces will become available, so if possible, students should apply on time. We will begin to consider late applications after April 2, 2008 when the first round of decisions has been completed.
