John C. Buckner, PhD '75 attended Lakeside from 7th grade through his senior year. He is currently a clinical/community psychologist and assistant professor of psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital-Boston, Harvard Medical School. John has worked in the area of family homelessness and poverty for 18 years. His work for the federal government and as a researcher inspired him to create a nonprofit charitable organization, Community Resources Information (CRI). The principal mission of CRI is to develop Internet Web sites that provide comprehensive information on state and local resources relevant to the needs of low- to moderate-income families, and individuals of all ages. John and his wife, Elizabeth—also a clinical psychologist—live in the Boston area with their daughters, Kimberly and Mila.

            A favorite quote that I have posted in my office:

          “Do not let perfection become the enemy of the good.” I have      this to remind me not to obsess on things to the point of inaction. Below that, one of my two daughters has written: “Mila is my favorite daughter and I must always give her whatever she wants.” Clearly, she is trying to influence her dad’s thinking.
