LAKESIDE GLOBAL PROGRAMS
At Lakeside, we wish to open the doors of the world to our students—both within our classrooms and beyond. Over the last few years, the faculty has continued to build a more international curriculum. To support the global education tenet of our Mission Focus work, Lakeside has recently launched a comprehensive Global Service Learning program (GSL) and is building on an existing program of international experiential learning (LIP). The program is in its fourth year.

GSL Mission Statement, Goals and Objectives
Service Learning Definition
The Lakeside School GSL program defines service as work done by Lakeside School students together with people living in the developing world (including parts of the USA), with the goals of improving the lives of others, fostering an understanding between cultures, and nurturing an appreciation of the strengths, challenges, and complexities of those cultures. The projects are subsidized by the Living Our Mission campaign funds enabling all students to participate.
Service Learning of this nature will comprise 70 percent of the total time spent on a Lakeside School Global Service Learning Program project. Up to ten percent of the total service time in the country will be devoted to nurturing an academic understanding of that country.
