Lakeside School Outdoor Program

Requirements

Lakeside requires that all Upper School students complete a weeklong wilderness experience before graduation. Many students do more than one trip, but all students must do at least one. It is highly recommended/required that students arrange to take their trip before senior year.

Upper School programs last about a week and take place mainly in the Pacific Northwest. Out-of-state sites include the Grand Canyon, Arizona, and Canyonlands, Utah.

The Middle School program consists of grade-level specific outings. Fifth graders typically have an overnight experience in the spring. Sixth grade takes two major trips of three-to-four days in the fall and spring in camp-like environments; these trips may include day hiking and river rafting. Seventh graders have a four-day outdoor trip each spring, and 8th graders go on a beach or sea kayak trip for four days in late spring.
