Logowear: Online sale ends TODAY

ROAR: Lakeside Hoedown online auction opens soon
Saturday, Nov. 19, 5:30 p.m., Fremont Studios
ROAR is only two weeks away and the online auction opens on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.! Don't miss this opportunity to bid on over 120 items including restaurant certificates, sports and theater tickets, hotel and vacation homes, spa indulgences, and more. PGA affinity groups schedule next meetings
Same sex parents and guardians and/or parents and guardians of LGBTQ students
Sunday, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m.
The first off-campus meeting will be a potluck held at a private residence located in Seattle. The topic will be "what are our children talking about: coming out, definitions, social pressure."
Parents and guardians of Asian American, East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, or Pacific Islander students
Monday, Nov. 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Members of this affinity group are invited to an appetizer and dessert potluck in the Houghton neighborhood in Kirkland.
Parents and guardians of biracial/multiracial students
Wednesday, Nov. 30, 6:30-8 p.m.
Parents and guardians with biracial or multiracial students are invited to an appetizer and dessert potluck in the Laurelhurst neighborhood in Seattle. The topic will be "our experiences as parents and guardians of biracial/multiracial kids."

PGA Lecture: Kids, sex, and gracefully losing control
Thursday, Dec. 1, 6:30 p.m., US Kent Evans auditorium
Join the conversation with Seattle educator and filmmaker Greg Smallidge as we explore
and discuss the role of parents and guardians in our children's sexuality education and behavior. Learn how to support your tween/teen to have ownership of their sexual health and happiness, and hear Greg share his own personal journey of successfully "getting through" these years. Social time will start at 6:30 p.m. with light refreshments; presentation starts at 7 p.m. Parents and guardians only. T.J. Vassar diversity and community committee welcomes Justice Mary Yu
Monday, Dec. 5, 7:00 p.m., US Kent Evans auditorium
We are thrilled to welcome Washington Supreme Court Justice Mary Yu to Lakeside for a talk about her inspirational rise to the state's highest court. Justice Yu is the daughter of immigrants, the first person in her family to go to college, and the first Asian-American, first Latina, and first LGBTQ community member on the court. Refreshments will be served from 6:30 p.m. with the talk beginning at 7 p.m. Parents, guardians, and students are invited. Please contact Katja Shaye or Susan Takemoto with questions.
Donate, volunteer, shop and have fun at Rummage!
Donate: The Rummage Sale cannot happen without your donations! Rummage has updated our donation guidelines for regular items and electronics. Please drop off items at the Depot on the bottom floor of the PGA building. We are seeking donations in glassware, sporting goods, hardware, and garden.
Volunteer: We are looking for some new help at the sale. You can sign up using the "Get involved!" link.
Shop: The Depot is setting aside winter sportswear and gear. This is a great place to get something for your rapidly growing student. Come shop 8 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Mon.–Thurs. at the Depot. (Cash and checks only.)

Where do your ROAR donations go?
The ROAR auction is the PGA's biggest fundraiser. This year, thanks in large part to ROAR, the PGA donated $475,250 to support Lakeside's operating budget and student programs. Our donation contributed $228,000 towards the school's operating budget and staff salaries, and $110,000 to "tools for the job" a program that helps teachers make purchases to support student learning. (Past purchases include the MS outdoor play structure, a 3D printer for the US, smart boards and better desks for classrooms, and new microscopes and other equipment for science labs.) Additional funds were earmarked for scholarship endowments, the LEEP program, educational enrichment for class field trips and outside speakers, and eliminated student participation fees for MS Athletics. Along with the $475,250 donation to the school, the PGA raised $105,000 to support our own programs allowing us to fund the Back-to-School Picnic, throw three tailgates, underwrite Prom to make it affordable for all seniors, run speaker programs, and host grade level coffees, affinity group meetings, a Music in the City reception at Town Hall, and many other programs and events.
The PGA was particularly excited this year to make a special $100,000 donation to Lakeside to support the school's new arts initiative. This donation signaled a strong show of support from our parent and guardian community. Lakeside's vision of improved arts spaces will soon become a reality with this summer's planned groundbreaking on renovations to the Middle School.
Your donations to ROAR make a real difference in the lives of Lakeside students. Please consider purchasing a ticket to attend the live auction, bidding on an item online, or making a donation if you cannot attend. ROAR is both a community builder and a fundraiser, and the PGA encourages all parents and guardians to attend. We have flexible pricing starting from $25 a ticket up to higher sponsorship levels.
