Planned Giving: Planning Your Legacy for Lakeside
Gifts that are made as part of your overall financial plan–which often benefit you now and Lakeside later–are known as “planned gifts.” Planned giving allows you to provide future support for the areas and programs at Lakeside that are of most interest to you and often result in a larger gift than you might have thought possible.
Lakeside is pleased to offer the Planned Giving Guide to help you get started on planning your legacy for the school.
|

Working with our advisors to plan the specifics of our estate was a huge help. We have a number of organizations that are important to us and some family members we wanted to include as well, and our advisors helped us decide the best way to accomplish our goals. In my role as a member of the development staff, I heard so many heartfelt testimonials from alumni, faculty, parents, and students, and for eight years I witnessed first hand the quality of education at Lakeside. I dedicated my life to academic excellence and so Jim and I wanted to include the school in our estate plans

We share a strong desire to provide scholarships for students who have the motivation to learn but lack the resources.
The great part of providing for Lakeside scholarships in our wills is that we can extend our current support for student financial aid after we depart. Providing for our favorite non-profits in our wills has added pleasure and satisfaction during our lifetimes.

In the 1940s and ‘50s, my grandparents helped my young parents pay my St. Nicholas tuition, sending me to college with a head start. Years later, when considering Lakeside for my children, I found the school had greatly improved, thanks in part to bequests. Remembering Lakeside in my will returns the favor my family enjoyed because of the generosity of others.
