Endowment Campaign Goal: $25,000,000
Lakeside’s excellence depends on its ability to attract and retain an exceptional teaching faculty and expert administrators. We want to pay for performance; we want to be able to pay for the very best. To do this, our goal is to keep faculty and administrative salaries competitive.
The current teacher shortage nationally will peak when an estimated two million teachers retire in the next four years. Lakeside School will not be immune to this trend: many of our first-rate senior teachers are now in their late 50’s or early 60’s. When they do retire, we will seek to replace them with the great teachers of the future. The hiring environment will be nationally competitive and will require us to offer compelling salary and benefits packages.
We also want to reward the good young teachers more quickly, so that as they develop into expert, effective educators they are also being compensated at a level that will encourage them to stay with the teaching profession and become “stars” in our classrooms.
We want to guarantee that our faculty and staff members are always growing, always learning, and always modeling for our students the habit of life-long learning. We are creating a professional development endowment that will allow us to fund professional development workshops, conferences, and graduate-level education for our faculty and staff.
