A Lakeside Tradition
You have to go way back in Lakeside history to find out the date of the first 8th Grade Boat Dance, now called the 8th Grade Celebration. This is a tradition that has been long cherished by the students.
Although in some years the Celebration took on a formal flair with trappings and expenditures to match, the intent of the event is to have a casual, year-end get together for students to celebrate the end of their Middle School years and the exciting adventures to come.
Parent volunteers arrange for the venue, refreshments and entertainment. Themes are selected that encourage casual attire.
While the students are celebrating, all parents/guardians are welcome to join an adult party organized by 8th grade family volunteers. This gives parents a last opportunity to visit prior to the summer vacation.
It's important that everyone have an opportunity to participate in class events. Parents Association funds are available to help families who find the student or parent ticket prices difficult to cover. Last year's ticket prices were $35 per student and $5 per adult for the Parent Party. Contact the Financial Aid Office with questions.
