Lakeside has a unique prom tradition. The evening combines what are often two different events at other schools - prom and grad over night. This makes prom night one of Lakeside's most wonderful traditions. The night is truly special for the senior class and, historically, all class members attend. Although there are exceptions, most Lakeside students come with a group or another Lakeside senior. Dates from outside the community are rare as the evening is a celebration of all the seniors have shared together through their years at Lakeside.

Planned by senior parents, prom night is shrouded in secrecy even as the event unfolds. Transportation is arranged for everyone so that no details need be disclosed prior to the beginning of the evening's festivities. Because the transportation is provided and monitored, parents know the seniors are making their way from venue to venue safely.

It's a struggle every year to keep the details a secret from the seniors (and everyone else)! It's also part of what makes the event so exciting. Seniors arrive in the Red Square on the Upper Campus dressed in their celebration attire and ready for a wonderful night.

Pictures are taken, hugs exchanged and the buses are loaded and off to the first destination. Senior parents retire to their own dinner celebration on campus to reminisce and share the emotions of the passages to come.
