The
Lakeside Parents Association has always
held fundraisers. For most of the history
of the organization, the fundraisers were
held on campus. In the '92/'93 school
year, we held our first downtown auction.
The proceeds were tremendous and we moved
our events downtown.
In '97, we came back to campus for the County Fair fundraiser
for a change of pace. Then a pattern of on campus one
year, downtown auction the next was established.
In the '02/'03 school year, we had Harlequin Cafe' on
campus and the focus was as much on community participation
as it was on fundraising. And it was a tremendously
fun, inclusive event. The idea has caught on as a great
community building event that doubles as a fundraiser.

Although on campus fundraisers
have not yet raised as much money as our downtown
auctions did, no one disputes the value of getting
parents, faculty and staff together to celebrate
Lakeside.
It's quite possible that we
may return downtown in the future for a change
of pace. In the meantime, we invite you to
join us on the Lakeside campus this November.
