DRAWING AND PAINTING I: 2007-2008

Class time for projects listed. Due date is the week following class end time.  An additional week extension for due date is acceptable if it is requested on an individual basis.

FALL SEMESTER

1. Movement & Energy- B/W; Variety and value; Western & Eastern Roots (1 ½ weeks to explore & plan composition. 3 weeks for project and matting. 12th retreat 9/10. 9th retreat Wed-Thurs 9/26-27)9/17-10/5

2. Foundations of Realistic Drawing- Proportion and shape (1 ½ weeks) End 10/16

3. Mandala- Colored Pencil; Balance and harmony; Multi-cultural (1 ½ weeks to explore colored pencil technique and ideas. 10/18-10/26 (Three weeks for Mandala.) 10/29-11/16

4. Perspective - One and two point & combinations. (Follow in class    demonstrations. No individual project assigned. 1 ½ weeks.) 11/19- 11/30

5. Acrylic- Color Mixing and Skills: (2 weeks to explore mixing/plan. 12/3-12/14. 4 ½  wks. to paint. 12/17-1/31

 

SPRING SEMESTER

 6. Shading- Principles of light and shadow: (2 weeks) 2/1-2/15

7. Variation in Line Quality- Interpretation and Expression, B/W Media Choice: (One week line quality & interpretation: edit/emphasize. 2/25- 2/29 One week expression. 3/3-3/7)

8. Acrylic Techniques & Effects- Explore (One week.) 3/10-3/14

9.  Watercolor Techniques & Effects- Explore (One week.) 3/17- 3/21

10.  Surrealism and Fantasy- Exploring ideas and images (One week) 3/24-3/28

11. Expressionism: Exploring ideas and images (One week) 3/31-4/4

12. CHOICE PROJECT/S- Choice Media: Acrylic, Watercolor or Mixed Media You may do multiple projects if time allows.) 5 ½ weeks. 4/16-5/23
