About Lakeside Athletics
Associate Director of Athletics & Sports Information
Chris Hein joined the Lakeside staff in the fall of 2009. In addition to facility and event management responsibilities, Chris oversees the Lakeside sports information platform and each of its media extensions.
A native of Jackson, MI, he spent his undergraduate years at Siena Heights University (Adrian, MI), where he earned a bachelor of arts in Sport Management and Business Administration. From there, he went on to earn a master of arts in Organizational Management from Spring Arbor University (Spring Arbor, MI).
His work in athletics includes a combined 12 seasons as the head coach of the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Jackson Christian High School (his alma-mater), two years as a coach with the Michigan Rush Soccer Club and Jackson Fire Soccer Club, a year as the assistant to the sports information director at Spring Arbor, and a seven-year stint as the assistant to the athletic director at Jackson Christian.
Chris lives in Seattle with his wife, Nikki, and their golden retriever, Lincoln.
Assistant Director of Athletics
Adrienne "Bird" Folsom joined the Lakeside staff as assistant director of athletics in the summer of 2014. In addition to assisting with facility and event management responsibilities at the Upper School, Bird oversees all sports at the Middle School and acts as Lakeside's lead liaison with the Seattle CYO.
A product of Tacoma, WA and Charles Wright Academy, Bird spent her undergraduate years at the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA), where she earned a bachelor degree in Business with a minor in French. During her time as a Logger, she was a member of the women's soccer team - she later went on to compete with the Seattle Sounders women's team of the WUSL in 2009. In 2012, she earned a master's degree in Sports Administration & Leadership from Seattle University.
Prior to her arrival at Lakeside, Bird spend two years with Special Olympics Washington, where she was a region sports and training manager.
Her work in athletics includes stints as the manager of Schmetzer’s Sporthaus in Tacoma, sports information assistant at UPS, director of soccer operations at Comeback Sports (Tacoma, WA), and as a graduate assistant coach with the women's soccer team at UPS.
Head Athletic Trainer
Tamra Patton came to Lakeside in 1989 while working with a number of local high schools to provide certified athletic trainer (ATC) coverage for their athletic programs. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Education and Athletic Training from Seattle Pacific University and her master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Western Illinois University, where she also served as the assistant women’s ATC. Her work in the field prior to joining the staff at Lakeside included multiple other stops at the collegiate level including Gonzaga University, the University of Pittsburgh, and San Joe State University. She has been certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) as an athletic trainer since 1982 and as a NATA examiner since 1984. At Lakeside, she has taught Health and Physical Education courses, continues to teach a Sports Medicine course, and is a certified American Red Cross instructor. She is also a member of Lakeside’s Student Life department, Student Support team, and Emergency Preparedness committee, and leads Global Service Learning trips in the summer.
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
Rick Huegli joined the Lakeside staff in 2009, bringing with him over 30 years experience in education and athletics. Prior to Lakeside, he was the Sports Performance Director for Velocity Sports Performance, overseeing the delivery of training programs for youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. Rick has also served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Washington (19 years) and Wake Forest University (two years). He began his professional career teaching history and physical education and coaching football, basketball, and track at the high school level. In 1992 he was named the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s “Professional of the Year.” Rick received his masters of education from Bowling Green State University, and his bachelors of science from Western Michigan University. Rick has two daughters, Jordan and Carlin, both of whom are exceptional athletes.
Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Erica Pitman joined the Lakeside Athletics staff in 2009 after a four-year stint with Velocity Sports Performance. She is a graduate of Central Washington University, where she majored in Exercise Science and minored in Nutrition and Athletic Training and was a four-year member of the Wildcats’ Track & Field and Cross Country teams. In addition to her responsibilities at Lakeside, she coaches Cross Country at Cedar Park Christian School and coaches the distance events for the Lake Washington High School Track & Field team. Erica continues to run competitively with the Eastside Runners, a local club team.
