The Lakeside coed varsity track & field team sent eight athletes to Saturday’s (May 26) WIAA 3A State Championship finals at Mount Tahoma Stadium – the Lions competed in a combined eight individual events on the boys and girls side along with two girls relay events before the day was done.

Allanah W. ’12 turned in a fourth place performance in the 100-meter dash with a 12.46 pace, just .17 seconds behind third place finisher Erika L. of Auburn Mountainview. In her second event of the day, Allanah placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a finishing time of 26.19.

A 11:09.78 clip in the girls 3200-meter run carved out the strongest result from a freshman in the meet as Andrea M. ’15 secured a fourth place finish to close out her stellar 2012 debut in Lakeside colors. She also paced her way to a ninth place finish in the 1600-meter run with a 5:06.50 marker.

The Lions pushed two girls relay teams through to Saturday’s finals – the 4x200 contingent of Mia K. ’15, Kate M. ’15, Peyton J. ’14, and Allanah W. ran to an eighth place, 1:45.46 finish behind Shadle Park. The 4x400 grouping of Kate M., Rebecca D-G. ’14, Peyton J., and Mia K. finished in eight place with a 4:05.97 result.

Other individual performances on the girls side included a seventh place showing from Peyton J. in the 400-meter dash (59.02), and 15th place result in the pole vault from Vaiva P. ’13 (9-00.00).

Brian M. ’12 represented the Lions as the only male athlete in contention Saturday – his 9:29.30 performance in the 3200-meter run was good enough for 10th place among a highly competitive field. He also captured 12th place in the 1600-meter run with a 4:23.07 finish.
