Body Image/Eating Disorders

Concerns about body image and eating are very common for both boys and girls. Eating disorders are extreme expressions of a range of weight and food issues.  They include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.  All can have life threatening consequences.  These links all provide sites with specific and descriptive information about eating disorders, addressing concerns and questions about eating and exercise behavior patterns.

Eating Disorders Northwest
Based in Seattle, Washington, Eating Disorders NW sponsors a support group for people struggling with eating disorders and food and weight preoccupations. The format for each meeting is a topic discussion followed by an open sharing time. The group is facilitated by a trained lay person who is supervised by a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in psychotherapy for people with eating disorders. The group is free and meets on Sunday evenings at Children's Hospital in Seattle.
