Introduction The program Challenge 20/20, created by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), partners schools from around the globe in an attempt to understand and find solutions to global issues. The topics are described in the former Vice President of the World Bank, Jean Francois Rischard’s, book “High Noon: 20 Global Problems, 20 Years to Solve Them.” They range from global warming and global infectious diseases to illegal drugs. Each school investigates the issues locally and shares their findings with their partner school. The schools then work together to implement local and sustainable solutions. In January, every school submits a report describing their research and work to share with the other Challenge 20/20 participants (Welcome).
Through the Challenge 20/20 program, the NAIS aims to foster understanding of global issues, critical-thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, innovation, and creativity. In the 2007-08 school year, the 166 partnerships represented schools from 39 states in the United States and 56 countries around the world (Welcome).
