Recycling at Lakeside -

A large percentage of what was once sent to landfills from the school is now either reused and/or recycled. Materials recycled include: paper products of all kinds, metals, glass, plastics, and green wastes from the kitchens. Recycling on the middle school campus is coordinated by 6th grade students as part of their academic curriculum. On the upper school campus, collection of recycled materials is share by all students by each adviser group having one or several of the containers on campus as their responsibility to empty when filled. The student club, Earth Service Corps, is responsible for overseeing the work on the upper school campus. Waste from both campuses is hauled to a landfill in the deserts of Eastern Oregon, near the town of Arlington. The Lakeside Indicators Project helps us track trends in what is used, recycled, and sent to Arlington.
