Do you...
...enjoy building robots that can carry out complicated tasks?
...memorize digits of pi in your spare time?
...dream about black holes, neutron stars, pulsars, and dark matter?
...have the entire periodic table memorized?
...cringe every time people use the term "centrifugal force?"
...idolize Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, Marie Curie, James Watson,
Francis Crick, Erwin Schroedinger, Jane Goodall, Amedeo Avogadro, and all
the rest?

Welcome to the Lakeside Science Olympiad club, where we embrace our love of
science!  Our goal is to give people like you a chance to learn more of the
science you love, and let you use your knowledge in competitions against
like-minded high schoolers from
around the state and (hopefully) the
country.  There are opportunities for everybody, in areas such as engineering,
astronomy, forensics, epidemiology, aviation, circuitry, genetics,
structural design, chemistry, physics, anatomy, ecology, geology, experimental design, oceanography, ballistics, and
entomology.

So, if science intrigues you and you like meeting great people, check
us out!  Feel free to email either of the captains - Catherine O. (12) and Drew G. (11)- or the coaches - Keith Klingler, Scott Ogawa, and Kim Firestone .
So feel free to try
us out, and see what Science Olympiad is all about!

                See you soon!
Your captains, Catherine O. and Drew G.
And coaches, Keith Klingler, Scott Ogawa, and Kim Firestone

States, 4/14/2007

Two teams worth of Lakeside Science Olympians took the trip over Spring Break to Vancouver, WA, to compete in the State Science Olympiad tournament.  There were 23 teams in the competition, and the top team would advance to Nationals.  Both teams did quite well, with the Gold team taking 2nd place, only 6 points out of 150 behind the top team, and Maroon taking 17th.  Three quarters of the people who went earned individual medals in at least one event.  In addition, Beatrice L. '07 won a scholarship as one of the three top-scoring Seniors in the state.  Complete scores are on the Results page.

This was the closest we've ever come to winning the State tournament!
