GRADING                                                                     Ceramics                                           

Comments will be based on the following criteria:

Dedication

Work ethic: constructive use of time in the studio during class, as well as practice outside of class

Participation: attendance/punctuality, involvement in personal/group exercises and discussions

Creativity

Exploration: a willingness to try new ideas and take risks beyond the level of comfort with the material

Idea Development: visual research using personal drawings, collected images or actual forms to be translated into clay or inform your work (greater emphasis for Ceramics II, III, IV)

Responsibility

Studio Awareness: respect for others and their work, the studio tools and equipment, and understanding the guidelines for the studio environment

Cleanliness: clean all personal areas/tools, as well as assigned communal areas every day

Project Deadlines: achieve each deadline set for various aspects for the clay process from “finished greenware” deadline to “final glazing” deadline
