US History 300 -- Czarnecki -- Week of 10.11.04 (Week 2)

Tuesday:

Work in small groups on the "Rhythms of Colonial Life: The Statistics of Colonial Chesapeake Bay and Massachusetts Bay." Divide into small groups and answer the following questions first:

  1. What does this set of statistics measure?
  2. How does what is being measured change over time?
  3. Why does that change take place? (The answer might be in another set. This is called making a linkage)
  4. Go to the section called "Questions to Consider" for more directed questions to help guide your analysis of the documents for your region.

Homework for Wednesday: Read in textbook from the bottom of p. 108-115 and pp. to 120 to 128.  Take selective notes.

Wednesday:

Finish work on documents, and discuss the reading, especially the 7 yrs war.

Homework for Friday: Reading in the textbook up to the end of the chapter (128 to 144).

Friday:

The Seven Years War and the path to the Revolution

Homework for Monday:  Reading in textbook, pp. 148-151 and finish worksheet (handout: "British North America Matures: An Exercise in Demographic History").
