Wed- Finish three questions on back of packet.
Friday- calculate the circumference of the earth using eratostenes method-cancelled due to weather
Monday- Brief quiz (mostly but not all multiple choice)
Wed 9/24- p93 #39,43,44 solutions
Friday- Brief Quiz, complete circumference of earth stuff (assuming no clouds)
Monday- p205 #15, 19, 29
Wednesday- TEST review sheet
Monday- read pages 212-216, try to look for stars one night if you can
Wednesday- #1- If the Earth had a thinner layer for the outer core, but a larger inner core, how would that affect the places where the various earthquake waves could be detected by seismographs? How might it affect the Earth's magnetic field?
#2- Explain how aurora are formed.
#3- Explain why a supercontinent can't last forever.
Monday- Brief Research Project #1- I've assigned each of you a topic, you can feel free to trade with someone but I want one of each topic. Do some research and write up your findings in approximately one typed page. Make sure to include a list of all the books/websites/people you got information from.
Wednesday- Brief quiz on the Earth and the Moon up to theories of formation.
Friday- #1 What is the probable cause of the scarps (look it up in the text)?
#2- Pick a theory of moon formation and talk about evidence that supports it and evidence that refutes it.
#3- What are the three main theories for why Mercury has such a large iron core in proportion to itself?
Monday- Explain the runaway greenhouse effect of Venus in depth.

Monday- Find three moons that we haven't talked about in class and write a brief paragraph about each. Try and make it interesting, not just a bunch of facts but a brief story that gives a picture of what is going on.
Friday- Test
Wednesday- write up the story of how the Sun gets its energy. include all the details of the proton-proton chain in addition to e=mc^2 and general thoughts about strong nuclear forces etc.
