Registration is online, using a platform called Campbrain. Once you create an account, you can select your preferred lesson length package and teacher/instrument.

The program is currently open to individuals connected to the Lakeside community. This includes family members of current Lakeside students, Lakeside alumni, and Lakeside employees and their families. In addition, students at Open Window School are invited to participate in this program. 

Three packages of 12 lessons are offered this fall:

• $552 for 12 30-minute lessons.
• $828 for 12 45-minute lessons.
• $1,104 for 12 60-minute lessons.

All school-year lesson packages are for 12 lessons. When you purchase a lesson package, all 12 lessons will take place during a particular season of the year (fall and winter).

Summer lesson packages are for 10 lessons. 

You must use your lesson package in the given season (fall, winter, or summer). See below for dates of registration seasons. At the discretion of the instructor, students may take more than one lesson per week in order to use all lessons in the season.

Our lesson seasons run three times a year. The fall season runs from September to January. The winter season runs from January to May. The summer season runs from June through August. Prorated packages may be available for mid-term registrations.

Fall mid-season lesson registration opens Monday, Nov. 14 for six-lesson packages. Registration closes on Monday, Dec. 6.

Spring season registration opens Monday, Jan. 9 and runs through Friday, Feb. 3. Mid-season registration will open Monday, April 17 and run through Monday, May 8.

All registrants can pay with a credit card on CampBrain, and students currently enrolled at Lakeside School can pay through Veracross.

For Lakeside financial aid recipients, financial aid is available for music lessons at your current tuition aid percentage. Please contact financialaid@lakesideschool.org if you are not enrolled in a music class and would like to sign up for music lessons.

If there is no availability with your desired instructor, you will be added to a waitlist. You will not be charged if you are unable to take lessons.

Music lessons revolve around one-on-one musical instruction from your instructor. Generally, there is a brief warm-up period at the beginning of the lesson followed by instruction, demonstration, and practice. This will follow an individual course of study for each student based on their experience. Instructors will end the lesson by assigning material to practice before the next lesson.

The instructors are highly qualified and experienced Lakeside music coaches and faculty. Each instructor has gone through a complete hiring process, including state and national background checks.

Students will be matched with instructors based on availability. In the CampBrain registration process, you will see the name of the instructors available for your desired instrument.

Yes, though this must be arranged directly with the instructor. We can put you in touch with your prospective teacher to schedule a trial lesson. Payment for trial lessons are not part of Lakeside's billing or registration. Instructors and families must agree to terms in advance and handle payment directly.

No auditions are required. This program is open to all skill and experience levels. No experience is required to begin lessons.  

Each student must provide their own instrument, which should be approved by the student’s instructor.

Instrument brands should be discussed with the instructor.

Starting age varies by instrument. Please contact onlinemusicprogram@lakesideschool.org with specific questions. No experience is required and we serve beginners up to All-State-level high school students. Adult learners are also welcome. You do not need any previous experience with music, reading music, or playing instruments.

All instructors are employees of Lakeside School, have been fully vetted, and completed state and national background checks. All lessons are delivered through Lakeside servers and are recorded.
