As an alternative to the national Day of Silence, the Middle School's Students Taking Action club organized a Week of Listening focused on raising awareness and fostering pride in students' identities. Featuring opportunities for learning and discussion throughout the week, students hoped to contribute to continuing to make Lakeside a more inclusive school for all community members.
The club created informational displays around the school on LGBTQ+ identities, and organized a stenciling station where students wrote messages of support and pride on T-shirts and other clothing, including ally and #lovewins.
On Friday, April 27, the community wore their shirts and attended a panel discussion by Upper School students who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies. The Upper School will have a Week of Listening beginning Monday, May 21.
