by Isabel I. ’18
Isabel is one of the many visual arts students who will exhibit work in the senior art shows, which run weekly starting on Thursday, April 19.
I actually wasn’t going to apply to Lakeside before I went to the open house and saw the Pigott art building, where I was fully won over by the airy and inviting studio. I was anxious to get my hands in all the paints and canvases Lakeside had in store, and once I began attending, I was given that opportunity almost immediately.
At Lakeside, I was encouraged to experiment with mediums I would never have tried or been able to afford on my own. My teacher Jacob Foran in particular has helped me immensely as I try to explore the area outside comfort zone. Going to Brown next year, I’m excited to say that I’ll be able to continue my artistic journey by taking advantage of the ability to take classes at Rhode Island School of Design.
