This past month the Lakeside Model UN (MUN) Club participated in two conferences – EDUMUN and PACMUN, the latter of which is the largest conference in the PNW and was held this past weekend. The student delegates engaged in debating and designing solutions on an array of issues from the sustainability of the fast food industry to the regulation of scientific research.
Some of our delegates also participated in special committees, such as a historical committee tackling the expansion of the Mongol Empire and a Constitutional Convention intended to redesign the US Constitution for the modern world.
Of our 15 delegates, 7 won awards in their committees (usually given to 3-4 delegates per committee)! They all worked hard and were incredibly thoughtful and engaged throughout the MUN process, which included hours of debate and writing resolutions!
The following students participated: Seniors Ryan T. and Sid A.; juniors Alice G., Ayo O., Belle P., Charles G., and Eric X.; sophomores Ananya S., Connor S., Kevin W., and Sydney Y.; and freshmen Ari G., Hallie X., and Swadesh S.
