Fall 2022 Post-season Update

by Director of Athletics Chris Hartley

It has been a phenomenal fall sports season for all our teams. No matter the records of our teams and the outcomes of individual efforts, every athlete has invested significantly in improving and being a great teammate. I have enjoyed watching practices and cheering for teams at events. If you haven’t been out to a competition or if you want to continuing supporting the teams, you still have time!

Here is the rundown for post-season play:

CROSS COUNTRY

The team’s final Metro League meet was Friday, Oct. 21. Our runners had great success! The boys team finished 10th overall. The girls finished in 12th place. Our top finishers were Megan K. (5th), Drew K. (23rd), Reese V. (27th), Reggie H. (39th), and Ulee K. (42nd). All five of these athletes will be competing in the district meet which takes places at Lower Woodland Park on Thursday, October 27. Racing begins at 2:30 p.m. Those that qualify for the state meet will head to Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Saturday November 5.

GOLF

The last rounds of golf for our teams ended on Tuesday, Oct. 25 when our girls team competed in the Metro League championships. The girls team finished 8th overall which qualifies them for the district tournament in the spring. Liz C., Cailyn C., Vivien C., and Jenny H. will represent Lakeside. The top finishers for Lakeside were Liz C., who placed 4th, and Cailyn C. who finished 6th.

The boys team participated in the Metro League tournament on Tuesday, October 18. Though the team did not qualify for the district tournament, Ky C. placed 14th in the tournament which earned him a spot in the district tournament. He competed in that event on Thursday, October 20. Though he shot a solid round, he did not qualify for the state tournament.

GIRLS SOCCER

The team played Roosevelt on Monday, Oct. 24 in a crucial match. With a last-minute goal (nice work Mia B.!), the team won 1-0 to earn the #1 seed going into the Metro League tournament. On Friday, Oct. 28, they will play in the Metro League quarterfinals again the winner of the Eastside Catholic/Lincoln match. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. on Parsons Field. The semifinals and finals will be played at Memorial Stadium and will take place on Tuesday, November 1 and Thursday, November 3. A top-three finish will move the team to regionals of the state tournament that will begin the week of November 7.

If you can make the quarterfinal match on Friday, plan to come 15 minutes early (3:15) to celebrate all the team’s seniors!
