An Independent School • Grades 5-12

Tearon Joseph, associate director of admissions/financial aid programs director

Lakeside’s financial aid program helps make tuition less of an obstacle. Thirty-three percent of our student body receives financial aid, yet there may still be Lakeside families who would qualify for tuition assistance that have not applied in the past.

You can apply for financial aid at any time during your student's time at Lakeside. The fact that a student may have enrolled at Lakeside without the help of a financial aid grant does not preclude the family from ever applying. Circumstances can change. Sudden changes are often unplanned, not budgeted for, and directly affect a family’s ability to afford tuition. We consider them in our aid decisions. We also know that a high percentage of families budget for more than one full tuition — Lakeside, other independent schools, college, and daycare. Or, families may have budgeted for grades 7 through 9 — but are unclear how to afford grades 10 through 12. If any of this rings true for you, consider applying for financial aid.

Lakeside uses the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) as our financial aid application. It is a common form used by many independent schools across the nation. The School and Student Services (SSS) company processes the applications. SSS crunches numbers and provides us with a recommendation of what a family can afford toward tuition.

But we all know that the numbers only tell part of the story. We encourage families to contact our office via email or schedule a meeting so that they can explain those circumstances that go beyond the numbers.

On the Lakeside tuition and financial aid webpage you will find details on how we determine financial-aid eligibility, step-by-step instructions for applying, and a list of required documents.

We ask that interested families submit their PFS prior to January 1, 2021. Income and tax documents are due February 4, 2021.

Contact our office at with any questions or if you would like to schedule a meeting. We are also hosting a financial aid information session on January 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. if you are interested in learning more about Lakeside’s financial aid policies and how to apply. Most attendees will be parents/guardians of students applying to Lakeside, but current families are welcome. Please contact for a link to the event.

We look forward to working with your family.
