Lakeside junior Hallie X. recently placed second in the Washington History Day State Competition. The program allows middle and high school students to research a historical topic of interest and present it creatively to the public. The Washington program serves thousands of student participants statewide. This year’s theme was “Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, and Consequences.”
Hallie’s essay, “A Little Ball Propels the Globe: How Ping Pong Diplomacy Catalyzed Sino-American Rapprochement,” received second place in the senior paper division.
Hallie will continue on to the National History Day Contest, a virtual event in June 2022.
