An Independent School • Grades 5-12

Lakeside School is proud to announce a new private music lesson program that provides one-on-one music lessons to the larger Lakeside community. The school’s individualized music coaching — previously limited to current students — will now be offered to more members of our community. “We’ve poured an enormous amount of creativity into assembling an excellent remote music lesson program,” says Director of Performing and Visuals Arts Andrew Krus. “We now want to extend the program and help make an excellent music education more accessible to students and adults around the region.”

Lakeside School has been providing private music lessons to its students since 2007, and currently works with 15 coaches teaching string, wind, percussion, piano, and voice. The program has grown rapidly, and now maxes out the physical capacity for on-campus lessons every year. “With the transition to all-remote instruction, the program’s physical constraints disappeared,” says Krus.

Program launch

Starting in February 2021, the program will enter a new phase as it opens to individuals connected to the Lakeside community. This includes family members of current Lakeside students, Lakeside alumni, and Lakeside employees and their families. In addition, students at Open Window School — under the new leadership of Lakeside alumna Elaine Christensen ’82 — are invited to participate in this program.

Instructors bring years of training and experience in their instrument and offer high-quality instruction. Meet the instructors and learn about their professional and teaching experience here

Participants in the program register for lessons with an instructor matching their desired instrument. Lessons come in 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute packages of 12, are one-on-one, and take place over Zoom.

Musicians of all experience levels are encouraged to register; no prior experience with music, reading music, or playing instruments is necessary. Starting ages vary by instrument, and adult learners are welcome.

How to register

Those interested in registering for lessons can purchase 12-lesson packages on CampBrain. Financial aid may be available for students currently enrolled at Lakeside. Contact Tearon Joseph at financialaid@lakesideschool.org for more information.
