The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for students in grades 7–12, recognized a number of Lakeside School students for their writing this spring.
Four students were recognized at the national level: senior Bonnie Y.; sophomores Edward Y. and Aaron Z.; and 7th grader Margaret Z. All of the students received recognition and a ceremony at Cornish this March.
Edward Y. ’23 received a National Gold Medal for his humor piece, “How to Thrive in a Zoom Classroom.” Margaret Z. ’26 received a National Gold Medal and a best-in-grade award for her personal essay, “To Flatten the Curve.” Aaron Z. ’23 earned a National Silver Medal for his poem, “elwha,” and Bonnie Y. ’21 also received a National Silver Medal for her digital piece, “The Great Race.”
