Middle School

Middle School

Food and eating are an important part of every student’s day. Because we believe that students must eat well in order to learn to the best of their abilities, Lakeside Middle School’s dining room is open for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.

Healthy meals are prepared fresh each day by our kitchen staff, and feature a variety of flavors. Typical lunch specials include tandoori chicken with spiced potatoes and green beans, chicken gumbo, and the always-popular grilled cheese and tomato soup. Led by a professional chef, our kitchen staff sources as many ingredients as possible from local sustainable farmers and producers. Vegetarian alternatives are always available, and food is labeled to help students manage food allergies.

In addition to prepared food, the kitchen offers soups, sandwiches, healthy snacks, and a salad bar. Many students regularly bring food from home, and a microwave is available for student use.

Lunch clean-up at the Middle School is a community event. All students are expected to clean up after themselves, and sort their waste into trash, recycling, and compost bins. Two to three times a year, students work in their advisory groups to wipe down tabletops, sweep the floor, and take out the recycling after the last lunch period.

Lunch is always good. There are multiple options, and it’s delicious food — I like pizza and breakfast for lunch the best! – Jackson B. '25
